I hope you all have enjoyed the wonderful weather this weekend! It was so nice to finally feel like spring is here!
We have a little over a month until school is over (crazy!) and a lot going on in the next couple of weeks. It is nuts to think about how fast this year has gone! This Friday, we will have our school concert. By now, you have probably seen the green flier or the blog post from Principal Miller. The concert will be held at the high school. Please use the "back entrance" (the entrance on the Willard EStudents will sit with their grade level throughout the performance. Students can start arriving to sit with us at 6:40 and the concert will start at 7:00. Students need to wear their black Friday Shirts from this year. (With the movie theme) The students have been working hard and we are looking forward to seeing everyone there! Here is what is going on in the classroom this week: Communication Arts- We are still working on reviewing for our upcoming MAP test. We are working on opinion writing and doing prompts to help students feel comfortable with what may be on the test. Math- This week we will finish up our geometry unit and go back for one last unit on addition and subtraction. Science/Social Studies- We have started researching our famous scientists and inventors and are starting to work hard on the project. Students may gather information on their scientist or inventor at home using the internet (with parent help) or go visit the library to gather other resources. The actual project will be completed at school. We have set a date for our "Living Museum" to show what we know and have done with our projects! Our Living Museum will be on May 3rd at 3:00. Students will "dress up" as their scientist or inventor and memorize and recite a very short little speech to give the important facts about their person (1 paragraph). YOU DO NOT NEED TO BUY ANYTHING FOR YOUR CHILD'S COSTUME! This "costume" can be made by looking around your home or borrowing items from family members and may be as simple as hold a prop that represents their scientist! I think that is all for now. Have a wonderful week. Enjoy this nice weather and see you all Friday night at the Willard East Concert @7:00.
