Happy Friday! I hope you all had a wonderful week! We have been BUSY! We wrote our first personal narrative AND learned the steps of the Writing Process as we went, we made it to 20 MINUTES for building stamina for read to self and are almost there with our work on writing, and we worked on place value in math and will revisit adding and subtracting larger numbers (within 1000) next week!!!
Here is what is coming up: *School fundraiser is going on all next week! Send in coupons after your child has sold 2 items and 7 items so they can get their Minecraft and Minion key chains!!! We are trying to raise money for new playground equipment!!! All fundraisers are due MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 28th. *Open house will be Tuesday, September 29th! I will have our parent/ teacher conference sign up out this evening! Come see what we have been up to so far! I hope to see you all there! *Now that we have one music teacher in our building, we can have grade level programs again! The 3rd Grade program will be on Tuesday, October 20th at 7:00. Your child will be bringing home a little note from Mrs. Chatman about it tonight! Homeroom Parent: *It's hard to believe that we have been in school for 5 weeks now. I have attached a Google Form about being a homeroom parent. If you are interested and are willing to help plan our class celebrations, please fill this out and submit. You will NOT be responsible for providing all supplies and we can make the parties as simple or as "elaborate" (within means!!) as we would like. I have done both. We can work out whether we collect a couple of dollars for help or I create a sign up sheet for supplies needed! Thank you in advance for your help! If you are unable to come to parties but still would LOVE to help, we could use your help, too! Thank you, thank you, thank you! (This will work best if it is filled out on a computer. )

WOW! Last week came and went so fast! I hope everyone had a great 4 day weekend (for kids) and got to relax a little and enjoy our last few days of the season of summer.
Here is a look at what we're doing this week: Writing- We will begin our first narrative piece. We will walk through this together learning how to use the writing process, good beginnings, excellent endings, and juicy details. These are skills 3rd graders will be expected to use with each piece of writing we do this year. (And in years to come!) Reading- We are still launching our Read to Self and Work on Writing. Expectations during these times are high during our Daily 5 time so we really work hard to make sure that our stamina is built so that we can stay on task for the full 20 minutes. Math- We are working on adding and subtracting within the hundreds place. Social Studies- We have been learning about the parts of a map and how to read a map. We have also labeled a map with Missouri's 8 bordering states. We will have a quiz over this most likely next week. Students will be able to label all 8 states and the two major rivers running through the state independently. Other Announcements: *Mark your calendar!!! PTO will meet for the first time this year on Wednesday night from 6-7. Childcare and pizza will be provided!!! *Open House will be Tuesday, September 29. |
