We have been busy, busy, busy! October is flying by and it's hard to believe that first quarter has ended.
This week in math, we have been working on two-step word problems. We focused on breaking down the problem sentence by sentence and thinking about what operation we need to use.
Next week, we are going to learn how to solve two-step word problems using letters to represent unknowns.

Today we took our pre-formative for our next unit on informational writing. We will begin learning how to write informational pieces on Monday!
We have been learning about government and next week we will focus on the 3 branches and their functions.

Parent/ Teacher Conferences-
Tuesday and Thursday after school. Principal Miller will be hosting an informative session about the new grade cards in the computer lab from 4:00 pm-7:15 pm. If you are having trouble receiving, understanding, or general questions please stop by the computer lab after your conference.
Time Reminders will go home on Monday. Please contact me to reschedule if you cannot make your original time.

Friday is the last day for fundraiser packets. Please be collecting money as you sell and turn it in with your order form by Friday, October 4th.
Next Tuesday, I will start a Willard University class. It will be a mystery book club and will be MUCH more than just reading! It will also included doing some detective work, solving our own mysteries, and much much more! If your child is interested, you can sign up HERE. It will be Tuesdays after school until 5:00 pm. The cost is $25! Hope to see you there!
This week, we have continued to work on division and have learned some new strategies to solve division. Here is a link to a Learn Zillion Video that talks about how we can not only use an array to solve a multiplication problem BUT a division problem as well!
One last thing! Your student WILL NOT need a lunch on Friday, October 4th. We have a little lunch treat to celebrate a birthday!
