Happy Friday! And SO glad it is! This week has been a little nuts, but very enjoyable! We had teachers from Sparta Elementary School come and observe our classrooms during our Daily 5 time. A big thanks to the students for being flexible as their specials times changed a little bit throughout the week.
Sorry for some late returns on last weeks papers. The Letterman House has been fighting some icky cold and strep germs. With that being said, make sure that your kiddos are getting lots of rest, water, and are dressing warm! If they get hot easy, have them dress in layers so they can peel and add as they please. It's getting cold enough that coats are a must for outside. A hoodie or zip-up sweatshirt isn't enough with some of the weather we have had lately and will continue to have. Students can bring hats to wear outside, and of course, gloves and scarves. Next week is the last FULL week of school. The week after that, students will come on the 19, 20, and 21st. Wednesday the 21st will be a half day. Being the new girl on the block, I "borrowed" this from Mrs. Hillenburg to help inform you on everything that will be coming up: Holiday Activities: We have a few third grade traditions that we’ve done at Willard East for several years. The first is our holiday craft day. It will be held on Tuesday, December 20 from 2:00 to 3:30. Parents and grandparents are invited to attend. We will be traveling to each of the third grade room and creating a holiday craft. The children can choose to keep the crafts or use them as gifts. Each class will spend approximately 30 minutes in each room then rotating to create a new craft. We have asked that each child bring in 50 cents per craft ($1.50 total) to help cover the cost of the supplies. Parent/Grandparents will be encouraged to travel with their child while assisting them with their craft. Secondly, on Wednesday, December 21 we will have our annual “read-in”. I’m encouraging the students to wear their p.j.’s and robes and slippers. They can even bring a small pillow or stuffed animal with them. (please make sure everything can fit in their backpacks, no huge sleeping bags, etc.) We will enjoy our half day with books, hot cocoa, candy canes, and even a movie. Students will be dismissed at 12:30. We hope you can attend the Tuesday craft day with your child One last thing, Book Orders! I am sent them home Friday. If you would like to order, you can order online or turn in your copy to me by Tuesday. I would prefer no cash, because that is Scholastic's rule for sending in money. What we're up to next week: Writing:Sentence Fluency and figurative language Math: Finish up subratction and end of unit assessment I think that is all for the week! Enjoy your weekend!
