Writing- This week, we started working on fairy tales and adapting fairy tales as writers. So far, this unit seems to be a hit! I can't blame the kids for loving it. It's fun, they get to use their imaginations and make things up, we get to read traditional and some fractured fairy tales...the list could go on and on. Next week, we will continue to work on planning, adapting and drafting fairy tales.
Reading- We have been studying about biographies this week (and before break) and reading a biography about Martin Luther King Jr. We will continue with that as a class next week. In groups, we will begin doing some test prep to prepare for MAP. We will be taking the MAP Test April 22-24 and April 29-May1. We will only be testing in the mornings. Please do not schedule any doctor's appointments or plan to be gone those weeks! We will be done by lunch each day, so if you need to get your student then it won't interrupt testing. I will send home more information about the test in a few weeks when it is a little closer!
Math- We wrapped up fractions this week. We were supposed to before break, but we needed a little more review on equivalent fractions before testing. We tested today and I am anxious to see how they did. Tests will come home on Tuesday of next week.
Next week, we will begin our unit on measurement. For the next week we will focus on telling time to the nearest minute and solving word problems with time intervals in minutes.
Spring Concert in on April 15 at 7:00. It's going to be a good one, as always and I am excited to see them perform!
Spring Pictures: Be sure to send your pictures or the sheets of pictures you are not buying back! Or, send in money for the pictures or sheets of pictures that you are buying!
Have a great weekend!
