Your child will be bringing home a sheet tonight to complete as homework. We completed most of it in class and it will be practice for our upcoming test on Friday. On this sheet, you will notice that we are already into multiplication. (The homework deals mainly with multiplying a single digit with a multiple of ten) With the shift of the standards with Common Core coming into place this year, things have done just that...shifted. Third graders will now be expected to know their facts coming into the third grade. This year, we will need your extra help. Since we are already doing multiplication and next week will start a new unit on how multiplication and division are inversely related, we need students to be working on memorizing their facts at home. You can find multiplication flash cards at Walmart, Target, etc, make your own, and find many "drill'games online for students to use to practice. It is important that they start now and make a habit of learning and practicing these habits.
**This will be considered nightly homework. Thank you for your help and cooperation. As I mentioned above, we will have our first math test on Friday. This test will measure the students' success in the areas of:
I think that is plenty information for now! Thank you for your help and hard work you do at home. We are having a great year so far and I expect for it to continue to get even better!!!
