Our first week of May is going to be a busy one! Here is what we have going on!
Field Trip- This Wednesday is our field trip to the George Washington Carver Museum in Diamond, Mo. We will leave the school as soon as the buses are here and are ready to leave. (9 at the absolute latest, unless there is a bus issue of some sort). It will take us about one hour to get to the park/ museum. From there, I'm not 100% sure what our schedule will be. We will have a guided tour of the trail, participate in some sort of experiment in a science classroom, we will have some discover time and then a picnic for lunch. I know we will be packin' it all in because we will have to leave there by 1:00 to be back in time for our 2:00 "curfew". (Buses have to be back for high school routes)
Field Day- If your kids aren't exhausted this week, I must be doing something wrong. ;) After returning home from our field trip, the very next day will be Field Day!!! If you haven't been at East before and don't know about our field days, this is a fun day where students participate in games, relays, and outdoor activities to celebrate the end of the year. Field day shirts went home on FRIDAY. If you didn't get yours, check your child's backpack or call Coach F. Our field day will be in the afternoon. We will start eating lunch around 11:00 and then walk over to the football field. Coach F sent home a letter a couple of weeks ago with information. If you would like to help out on field day, email him at [email protected] .
Teacher Appreciation Week: On top of all of our busy days, we are also celebrating our teachers at Willard East! There are some fun dress up days this week if your child would like to participate:
Classroom stuff: All of that fun stuff going on and these kiddos still have some actual academic stuff to finish up! (These kiddos are troopers!) This week we are working on our 4th quarter writing prompt, DRA's (Developmental Reading Assessments) and will finish up talking about fractions and take a quick assessment over that at the beginning of the week. We will also start to wrap up our plant unit this week and then take our 4th quarter science assessment by the end of this week/ very beginning of next week. That is it in a nutshell! It's a busy week! I can't believe we only have 3 weeks left! Next stop, SUMMER!!!! Important Dates:
