Happy Friday! We are finally in the routine of things here in third grade and it feels like the weeks are just flying by.
Here's what we have up on deck for next week: Writing- We will still be working with organization in our writing. We will focus on beginnings, middles, and good endings. Reading- We will keep working on building stamina for our Daily 5 components. We have built up stamina reading to ourselves and can read for 20 min. Work on Writing we are up to 8 minutes. Next week we will work on Read to someone, as well as introduce Word Work and Listen to Reading. Math- Believe it or not, we are finally through our first unit of math. Today, we wrapped up some loose ends and we will review Monday. The unit test will be Tuesday, September 18th. Social Studies-This week, we have been learning about the types of communities and our community. The letter introducing our Community Pop-Up Book Project went home last week. Today, students got their business assignment and research sheets. Research can be done online, over the phone, or in person. Research is due back at school Tuesday, September 18th to start the construction of our project. We will wrap up our community and geography unit next week and test tentatively at the end of the week. Don't forget to send in your money for the Write a Check Campaign. This hopefully be the only fundraiser we do and it cuts out having to sell, collect money, and deliver "goodies". Send your check or money in with your student. If you would like to pay by credit or debit card, just stop by the office and they can get that done for you! We have a homeroom parent!!!! Thank you to Pam Conti for being so willing to step into this position this year and help. If you are interested in helping her, let me know and I will help get Have a great weekend! Enjoy the cooler temps!
