I hope that everyone had a great Labor Day weekend. I hope that you got rest and some family time. Thank you to those who worked on your holiday weekend. Many jobs that are needed to still work because we have come to depend on them. THANK YOU!
Here is what we will be working on this week: Reading/ Writing- We have been talking about overcoming challenges in learning as an overall theme for our unit. Last week and this week, we are focusing on reading to determine the moral/ lesson and to find the gist of the story. On Thursday, we will take our NWEA for math. Students will need their headphones/ earbuds. If you haven't sent any in, please send them in by Thursday. We also use them for Listen to Reading and other educational programs we use on Chromebooks. This is an online test that we have been using the past few years to determine the level of learning each child is currently at, what their ready for, and to help them set goals. It is NOT used by the state of Missouri in any way to measure achievement. :) It is adaptive so every student will end up getting questions they don't know or haven't learned how to solve or answer. It wants to see how far each student can go. Math- We have barely scraped the surface and have introduced multiplication and what it is. We are now starting to do the same with division. This week we will focus on division as sharing. Social Studies- We have been talking about the Deceleration of Independence and the Constitution. We have focused on WHY these documents are important to us. Other Announcements: Homecoming T Shirt orders can be sent in with money if you would like one. Upcoming Dates: September 20- Homecoming - 1/2 Day for Students September 26th- Open House
