WOW! Last week came and went so fast! I hope everyone had a great 4 day weekend (for kids) and got to relax a little and enjoy our last few days of the season of summer.
Here is a look at what we're doing this week: Writing- We will begin our first narrative piece. We will walk through this together learning how to use the writing process, good beginnings, excellent endings, and juicy details. These are skills 3rd graders will be expected to use with each piece of writing we do this year. (And in years to come!) Reading- We are still launching our Read to Self and Work on Writing. Expectations during these times are high during our Daily 5 time so we really work hard to make sure that our stamina is built so that we can stay on task for the full 20 minutes. Math- We are working on adding and subtracting within the hundreds place. Social Studies- We have been learning about the parts of a map and how to read a map. We have also labeled a map with Missouri's 8 bordering states. We will have a quiz over this most likely next week. Students will be able to label all 8 states and the two major rivers running through the state independently. Other Announcements: *Mark your calendar!!! PTO will meet for the first time this year on Wednesday night from 6-7. Childcare and pizza will be provided!!! *Open House will be Tuesday, September 29.
