Three days stands between us and the MAP test. Our students have been working hard on preparing and I think they are as ready as they can be. Be sure to read over our Testing Tips posted HERE last week. We will begin MAP testing next Tuesday, April 23rd at 9:00 am promptly.
Next Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday we will take the Communication Arts portion. April 30-May 2nd we will take the Math portion. Today we focused on positive attitudes and how that is such a big part of being successful.Promote a good attitude and healthy habits for the next few weeks! Besides preparing for the MAP test, we have been working hard on our Famous Scientists and Inventors project. This week, we have taken the research we have and turned it into an informational piece of writing. Next week, we will start working on constructing the projects. If you could, please send in an adult plastic hanger. These will be used to hang your child's project from. Our living museum will be MAY 3rd from 3:00-3:30 in the third grade hall. Students will "dress up" like their famous inventor and give a very short speech about them. You do not need to buy anything for you child to dress up as their inventor. Looking in toy boxes and family member's closets, you can always fashion a costume out of what you have. Next Friday is an early out/half day for students. We will have Tiger Pride at 9:00 am and then dismiss at 12:40. As you know, we were blessed and have had a WONDERFUL student teacher in our room for the last 4 weeks. Mrs. Whisler's time with us is short and we only get to have her with us for 5 weeks. Next week will be her final week with us. But I am excited to announce that Holly will be joining our staff next year. To thank her for her hard work while in our room and to wish her good luck on preparing for her own classroom, we would like to ask you to send in a little something for a "teacher shower" for Mrs. Whisler. If you could send in a little something to help her in her classroom, I will make a little basket for us to put goodies in. Helpful items for teachers are school supplies, office supplies for the teacher to use, candy or something nice for stress relief, gift cards to "teacher stores" (IPA, Mardel, Hobby Lobby, Walmart, Staples), books (used or new). The list can go on and on. Anything is helpful to a new teacher! Students can bring items in throughout the week BY next Friday, April 26th. I think that is all for this week! Have a wonderful weekend.
