Ok, so it's not QUITE spring, but close enough! And I am ready! Here is what is coming up this week-
Writing- With a new quarter, comes a new writing unit. We will be starting another unit on narrative writing. This is the type of writing we started the school year with. We will go back and apply the skills we learned 1st quarter and learn new ones as we explore fiction writing. Reading- This week, I have a few DRA's I am finishing up. Otherwise, we will be reviewing a couple of standards from 3rd quarter that we struggled with and retesting, as well as getting back into the swing of our reading groups! Math- We are reviewing the distributive property and why we use this property. This property looks tricky but once the few steps are learned is easy to do and apply to break apart big numbers that we need to multiply. Please be sure that your child is practicing multiplication at home. We have learned strategies to solve multiplication but they are not as near as efficient as having facts memorized. Just a few minutes each night can really help them remember their facts. Which is something they are learning is much easier than finding a product to a multiplication fact and then solving the rest of their math problem. Science- We will be starting a new science unit this week on plants. Other Announcements: Spring Conferences are next week. These are much more informal than fall conferences and I will not need to meet with everyone. I will be contacting you with a link to a sign up sheet if I need to meet with you. Of course, if you would like to meet, I would love to meet with you and visit. Just contact me and I can send you the sign up! March 25- NO SCHOOL We DO have school on Monday, March 28th as a snow make-up day. April 1st- Tiger Pride Assembly at 2:30
