Well, I am very happy to say that our first two days were a success! We reviewed and talked about our classroom and school procedures. Not always the most fun thing but always needed after a 2+ month break!
Management System- Today your child brought home a sheet to help you connect with our Class Dojo. (If you do not receive it, please let me know and I can get you another copy.) Students are awarded or deducted points based on their behavior throughout the day. Most of you will be familiar with this since it was used last year. Next week, we will start using our agenda's and take home folders. In this folder will be a sheet for each month that tells what their Dojo points were for the day. (And it explains what the points mean.) Bear with me, this is new to me so I am still learning. It's one thing to sign up and "pretend" use it and then actually use it. But I think we're going good! Also, heads up that you may see negative points right off the bat next week. Now that we have talked about expectations and what we would lose a point for (or gain a point) I have started taking them and will to give them consistency with this and so they can see my expectations. Snack- Yesterday we discussed snack time in third grade. Snack is optional if students bring a healthy snack. This includes granola bars, pretzels, easy to eat fruit, dry cereal (not chocolate or sweet), trail mixes, and many other options. If the snack is too sweet or isn't healthy, students can simply keep it and eat it with their lunch at 11:50. Reminders: *Remember that we have early dismissal on Mondays. Students will be released at 3:10 so teachers can attend professional development. *T-shirt order forms went home YESTERDAY for our Friday shirts. The first short sleeved t-shirt is $5. Each following after that is $10. Long Sleeved shirts are also available for $10. Please send money in with the order form. I think that is all for now! Have a WONDERFUL weekend! I'm looking forward to a VERY good year!
It's hard to believe but the new school year is upon us! I hope you all had a wonderful summer! I spent my days with our two children, Olivia and Luke. We did a lot of playing, reading, and swimming! We also got to travel to Florida with my family. We got the chance to go to Kennedy Space Center which was AWESOME and of course, Disney World!!! I can't wait to hear how everyone spent their summer and most of all, I can't wait for the experiences we will all have together this year in 3rd Grade!!!!
