Language Arts- This week, we will continue to work on Fairy Tales. We are also looking at using voice in writing and expressing our personalities and humor through the way we write.
For reading, we are finishing up biographies and have started doing some practice for the upcoming MAP Test in April. We will continue to work on MAP practice, in groups and as a class, for the next 3 weeks until we begin taking the MAP test. Math- This week, we are learning about elapsed time and solving word problems about elapsed time. Students will be able to solve elapsed time to the nearest hour and 5 minutes. At the end of the week, we will switch things up and start learning about volume and measuring volume. Quiz your child at home to get the used to telling time on an analog clock (not a digital clock). Use phrases such as "quarter after, half past, and quarter 'til" to get them in the habit of telling time on their own. Science- This week we will be observing water and how it changes from one state of matter to another and measuring the temperature of water in its different forms. Upcoming announcements: * Friday is 1/2 day. Students will release at 12:35 while teachers attend a professional development. *The Spring music concert is April 15 at the High School. It begins at 7:00. *Send back spring pictures if you do not wish to purchase them! If you do want to purchase some (or all of them) send back the unwanted sheets along with the money. You can also pay online- just don't forget to include the "code" that proves you paid and send the envelope back in. I think that is all for now! Have a great week!
