It sounds like things are still going really well in our class these first few weeks! Mrs. McGuire has bragged on these kiddos and how wonderful they are! (But I wasn't expecting any different!)
Here is what is going on this week: Writing- Students are learning to write by going through the steps of the writing process. They will also begin to work on personal narratives this week or telling personal stories. The class took their first spelling test last Friday! Don't forget to study the words each week! Reading- Our class is still working on launching the Daily 5 and learning the different activities and building stamina to do these activities for 20 minutes. Math- The class took their first pre-test last week. Pre-tests are not to grade the student on their ability but to give the teacher insight on what needs to be taught and what standards might need a little extra attention. This week, students will work on the properties of addition. Social Studies- The class has been working on locating the bordering states of Missouri and to locate the Rivers that run through our state. A study guide will come home today, Thursday, September 4th, and the test will be Monday, September 8th. Please work with your child over the weekend on practicing locating the bordering states of Missouri. Other Reminders: *Friday September 19th- Fundraiser Kick-off and Early Out! Students will be dismissed at 12:40. *Open House is September 30th! Before school started, I had mentioned doing my own "Meet the Teacher" since I had just had Luke. To help avoid you having to come back on two separate evenings, come to Open House and swing by and say "Hello!". *The Book Fair is coming! It will start on Friday, September 26th.
